The Big Thompson River begins it's life in the Gore range above Moraine Valley in Rocky Mountain National Park. Slowly at first, the river slowly meanders through Moraine Valley, slowly working it's way to the park's borders where it begins it's head strong rush down to the plains of Northern Colorado.
Along the river here, the water is clear with a slight rust tint, the air is crisp and the area is generally quite most times of the year. Fish can be seen moving past the shore as various birds look to grab one for a quick meal.
