The Mission de Santa Barbara has been called and accepted as the 'Queen of the Missions' for many years. Founded in 1786 by Franciscan order since it's founding by the priests and brother following Father Junipero Serra.
The mission is located in Santa Barbara California and is open to the public. Very much worth the detour off of US 101 as you are traveling up or down the state.
